The Dream
Dr. Immanuel Benjamin disagrees. He believes that much of the decline was a result of the over-dependence of the Pakistani Christian community on outside help from mission boards far away. Dr. Benjamin has consulted with former medical directors and missionaries, as well as church officials in Pakistan, and believes he can teach those who run the Hospital and the Nursing School how to support ongoing maintenance of UCH, train Christian workers who can do the actual maintenance and repairs, and develop a concept of Christian stewardship that includes conservation of facility and the very highest medical services and standards available in that part of Pakistan today. To that end, Dr. Benjamin has committed the last few years of his life, and should he accomplish his goal earlier, he will return to Emmett to a quiet retirement.
